Candle Care

We believe in ensuring that your candle experience is not only delightful but also maximizes the lifespan of your favorite fragrances. Here are some tips to nurture the glow and make the most of your Velour Aroma candles:

First Burn Matters

For an even melt pool, allow your candle to burn for at least 2 hours during the first use. This ensures that the entire surface of the candle melts, preventing tunneling and promoting an even burn in subsequent uses.

Trim Before Lighting

Before each use, trim the wick to a height of 1/4 to 1/8 of an inch to maintain an optimal flame level for the candle. Wicks left untrimmed may produce carbon (black, sooty smoke) or result in excessive burning, leading to potential discoloration. Utilize wick trimmers, nail clippers, or gently break off the burnt ends with your fingers for effective maintenance.

General Safety Tips

  • Never Leave Unattended:

    • Always keep a burning candle within sight and never leave it unattended.

  • Keep Away from Children and Pets:

    • Place candles in a secure location, out of reach of children and pets.

  • Burn in a Well-Ventilated Area:

    • Ensure that the room is well-ventilated, and there is proper airflow where the candle is burning.

  • Place on a Stable Surface:

    • Set candles on a stable, heat-resistant surface to prevent accidental tipping.

  • Keep Away from Flammable Items:

    • Place candles away from curtains, bedding, papers, and any other flammable items.

  • Mindful Extinguishing:

    • Use a snuffer or gently blow on the flame to extinguish the candle. Avoid blowing forcefully to prevent hot wax splatter.

  • Avoid Drafts:

    • Keep candles away from drafts to ensure an even burn and prevent flickering.

  • Use Appropriate Holders:

    • Use candle holders that are heat-resistant and appropriate for the size of the candle.

  • Discontinue Use at 1/2 Inch Wax Remaining:

    • Stop burning a candle when there is approximately 1/2 inch of wax remaining.

  • Store Candles Safely:

    • Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

  • Avoid Overcrowding:

    • Do not place candles too closely together to prevent uneven burning.

  • Emergency Preparedness:

    • Keep a candle extinguisher, such as a snuffer or candle lid, nearby in case of emergencies.

  • Be Mindful of Container Temperature:

    • Containers can become hot during burning. Let them cool before handling.

  • Check for Cracks or Damage:

    • Inspect candles for any cracks or damage before burning.

Repurposing Your Candle Vessel

Embrace sustainable practices while repurposing your candle jar effortlessly!

  1. Start by filling a bowl or pot with boiling water and gently submerging the candle jar. Allow the jar to rest for a few minutes, facilitating the softening of the wax.

  2. Once the wax has melted, carefully lift the jar from the water and pour out the remaining wax (never down the drain, rather absorb the wax with a paper towel and throw it away). Cleanse the jar thoroughly using warm water and eco-friendly soap.

  3. Ensure to remove the residual wick and wick-holder. The boiling water aids in softening the adhesive, facilitating easy removal. For any stubborn residues, use a pen to gently pop them out.

  4. Do not use the microwave to melt leftover wax, considering the wick holder is typically crafted from metal.

Now, infuse sustainability into your repurposing journey! Transform your candle jar into a delightful vase or eco-friendly plant pot. Alternatively, repurpose it as a container for Q-Tips, cotton rounds, pens, or other sustainable stationery items. Moreover, these jars make for distinctive, environmentally conscious wine or whiskey glasses! Explore the limitless possibilities of sustainable repurposing.
